City Dragons 2009/10 Update

Season 2009/10 is looking to be a very exciting year for City Dragons, already we have a number of exciting things happening within our club:

New Committee & Focus

City Dragons has a new look committee for 2009/10, a committee that has committed to being proactive, looking to build a strong base and future for the club and a committee that wants to hear from paddlers - ideas, feedback, etc. We need and want input from club members, without our members our club does not exist, so please don't hesitate to contact a committee member at any time. If you do not know who the committee members are, ask a fellow paddler. The committee is:

President:                     Jenny O'Hearn
Vice President:            Steve Da Costa
Treasurer:                     Karina Verdugo
Secretary:                      Ines Astudillo
Head Coach:                Ryan Chan
Members:                     Michelle Ackerman & Petr Balcarek

New Sponsors

We have two new majors sponsors, who we welcome to City Dragons and hope to see at some of our upcoming events .Thanks to both All Star and Livescore for their support, we look forward to working with you both as the season pregresses. Thanks to our new sponsors, we are introducing a new uniform this season, which we will be launching at our very first race for 2010 - Tacoma. The committee have seen the design, are very impressed with the race shirt, polo shirt and cap and are looking forward to having a uniform launch just prior to Tacoma. Without the support of our new sponsors this would not have been possible, so a huge thanks to both All Star and Livescore

New Logo

With the lauch of the new uniform, City Dragons will also launch the new "modernised" City Dragons logo. Designed by Juuce Interactive, the logo enhances the new uniforms and we thank Juuce for the time and effort they have committed to City Dragons. The committee is looking forward to the feedback from our paddlers, supporters and fellow dragon boaters in regards to the uniforms and logo.

Farewell to Life Members

City Dragons would like to wish life members Carlos Ung, founding member of City Dragons, and Daly Chan the very best of luck with their new club. Carlos has chosen to leave City Dragons after four years of many, many hours on the water coaching our crews and start a new club, which we wish him great success with. Carlos' great friend, Daly Chan chose to stay with City Dragons, but his friendship and loyalty to Carlos eventually won out & unfortunately City Dragons lost another long time coach and supporter of the club. Again we wish Daly great success and he continues to promote the sport of dragon boating beside his great friend. A huge thanks to both Carlos and Daly for the tireless amount of work that they put into City Dragons, we will miss them, but have no doubts at all that we will see them racing against us all in the very near future.

Thanks to our paddlers

With the season only half way through, City Dragons is looking to have a great seaon both on and off the water. We thank everyone, especially our club members, for their support and understand as we have transition through a difficult six months. The committee and I are looking forward to some very exciting times ahead as we launch the new uniforms, get to know our new sponsors and hopefully have a very successful season on the water. We would love to hear any feedback or comments you may have, we can be contact through the Contact Us link.

Happy paddling.
