City Dragons Season Launch 05-06

We have opened with a BANG! Bang like the dragon piñata that was smashed
open by our very own Pete "Jabba" Aguinaldo during the City Dragons Season
Opening Party that was held at the Friend in Hand pub on Saturday 27th of
August. Yes, we are well and truly into the season now. It was a
successful evening with a good turnout of current and old members, friends
and sponsors, and more importantly... potential members.

The run down of the night...
The party kicked off at around '7ish when most people have arrived.
Perfect timing as the sausage sizzle was just about served. This allowed
people to settle in with some music and a chance to mingle around as the
second round of food was served not long after. I just have to mention
that those mini hamburgers, excellent.

It was about 9 pm when our little ceremony started. Our lovely Events
Coordinator, Ms Ingrid Sumargo opened up the floor and introduced our
esteemed president, Mr. Wah Mio, to welcome everybody. He then introduced
the rest of the committee and what their plans are for the future of the
club. This was followed by presenting a small photographic memorabilia to
our major sponsor, Mortgage Choice, as a "Thank You" for their continuing
support. To signal the end of the formalities and to commence the party, a
short dvd collaborated by Aaron "Azza" De Sousa was put on to show our
last season shenanigans, which received overwhelming response from the
crowd.

And then it was piñata time. Hanging from an old broken down ceiling fan,
overlooking the crowd, it was waiting for its moment. And after a couple
of missed starts from our guests, it was left to Jabba to take a mighty
swing to free the entrapped lollies and thus, signalling the commencement
of the party. The people enjoyed the rest of the night, with most of them
(mainly the young ladies) carving the dance floor. With good food, good
atmosphere and great company, everybody will agree that it was a most
enjoyable evening, and the start of many more to come.

On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank everyone for supporting
the event and we hope to bring you more in the future.
